Message from the conference chairmen

    The conference WCU/UI'05, consisting of the World Congress on Ultrasonics (WCU) merged with Ultrasonics International (UI), will focus on the latest results in ultrasonic research, development and application. The conference WCU/UI'05 will comprise plenary sessions with invited keynote presentations, structured sessions on topics of current research given by invited speakers, ordinary oral sessions and poster sessions. The purpose of the conference WCU/UI'05 is to provide an overview of the most recent research in ultrasonics, with an emphasis on inspiring young researchers to contribute to this exciting and fast developing area. Papers presented at the WCU/UI'05 will be published in a special issue of the journal ULTRASONICS after traditional reviewing procedure.
    The conference site is Beijing , a world-renowned cultural city with a long history of over 3000 years. In addition to discussing the latest progresses in the science and technology of ultrasonics, the conference will give a unique opportunity to visit and appreciate the historical relics and scenic spots within and outside the city. Post-conference tours to historical and beautiful places of China will also be organized. WCU/UI'05 will offer the opportunity to take part in this significant event and have an unforgettable experience.
