The National Natural Science Foundation held the appraisal meeting of some key projects, namely the mid-term examination in Ningbo from Jan.16 to 18, 2008. The research on "Underwater Acoustic Channel Matching" undertaken by Academician LI Qihu of IACAS was approved to pass the exam.

Academician LI introduced how the research was going on in his report. The research on "Underwater Acoustic Channel Matching" was launched in 2006. In the past two years, the group members and cooperation units carried on through going and painstaking studying on the 6 programs. Owing to the joint efforts, the research obtained fruitful results. At the same time, the 7th one was partly in operational. Furthermore, the research group made many valuable attempts besides the original plan.

The research group members expressed they benefited a lot from the appraisal meeting. They thought many programs were very innovative and impressive. Academician Li said the research group should create more chances for the members to attend such meetings, to communicate more with the colleagues and finally to broaden their research horizon.

Through the mid-term examination, the research group further realized their weak points and set clearer goals for the full success of the whole project.
