The grave damage caused by the earthquake in southwest China greatly concerns the leaders, staff members and students in IACAS.

The second day after the earthquake happened, all the members actively donated money for the victims suffered in the earthquake. Only for one day and a half, the institute cumulated all together nearly 260 thousand RMB for the quake-hit district.

Moreover, on May 17, under the leadership of Deputy Director JU Qi, two scientists of our institute were sent to Beichuan, a badly damaged city of Sichuan Province to support the victim-rescuing work. They successfully built the communication networks cooperated with the colleagues of other institutes, which played an active role in rescuing work.
